This was the 13th Annual Kristi Visocky Memorial Golf Tournament, held in memory of Kristi Visocky who was killed in a car accident in 2003. Determined to keep alive the spirit and compassion of a young woman who was a strong champion of the underdog and supporter of troubled youth, Kristi’s Fund was set up to provide scholarships and assistance to area young women, as well as support community organizations changing the world.
Since its inception in 2003 the Foundation has awarded $320,000 in scholarships to 90 area young women, $90,000 in support to area organizations including Project Self-Sufficiency, Crossroads Safehouse, SAVA, Child Safe, Mathews House, Lutheran Family Services, Salvation Army, Respite Care, Center for Family Outreach and Boys and Girls Club. In 2014 the Foundation built a House for Habitat for Humanity, raising over $100,000.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament and Kristi’s Big Night Out Party will go to support Fort Collins SAVA - Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Center. According to Executive Director Bob Visocky “We want to help create a community without sexual violence. If you cannot imagine what that looks like, you are not alone. But together, we can help make that vision a reality.” Funds raised at the tournament will be used to support middle school programs that educate students about sexual violence and its consequences. The goal is to change the culture around sexual violence.
228 golfers took part in the fun-filled event. The theme this year was Caddyshack. The event raised over $10,000 for SAVA.
